My Work as a Computer Scientist
In this section you can find all kinds of information about my work as a computer scientist. You can find indepth information to my area of research, my publications, and projects.
As I already wrote on my frontpage, I am currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s. I am about to finish the comprehensive part of the program with my oral exam, after which I will start working on my thesis. A significant part of the research and writing will be done at the Hochschule Mannheim in Germany where I did my master as part of an exchange program. In my research, I will probably concentrate on Service-Discovery and Service-Integration of heterogeneous, distributed services. This research is part of the Cocktail project. You can read more about that at my dissertation page. I hope to finish my Ph.D. by 2013 and would love to get a position as a professor after that.
Next to Service-Discovery and Service-Integration, I am also interested in Human-Computer Interaction and User Interface Design, such as web development. You can find a more comprehensive and exact list on my statement of research interest.
Klingon Dilbert
The following is posted outside an office in the Department of Computer Science at Memorial University. I really like it. The Klingon approach certainly takes off alot of pressure. Even though I would hate to rely on Klingon software products.
Presenting for Dummies
Now here’s the deal: one of the most central key activities for researchers is the presentation of their findings. Which is great – if the presentation are acceptable. Now there are a few very basic rules that most people should have heard about by the time they are an undergrad student
